Featured Wines In Order of Service:

2016 Domaine de Reuilly, Reuilly Rosé of Pinot Gris, Loire Valley, France

Certified Organic as of 2011, the vines of Domaine de Reuilly are planted on highly coveted Kimmeridgian limestone soil, clay and gravel. The soil – located in the geological region that connects the Loire Valley to Chablis in Burgundy, and valued for its high marine and shell fossil content dating back 150 million years ago - and farming techniques translate into a wine that is a brilliant representation of terroir.

As described by famed US importer Kermit Lynch, “When tasting the wines of Denis Jamain, it’s clear the appellation of Reuilly, in the eastern Loire, is experiencing a renaissance, moving far beyond its former status as the ‘poor man’s Sancerre.’”

The 2016 Rosé of Pinot Gris is a beautiful light, rosy pink, with a bouquet of tangerine, orange blossom, lemon, and pear with a distinct salinity and soft flinty note.  On the palate the wine is crisp with high mineral tones and a gentle finish. At the forefront is a medley of lime zest, citrus leaves, orange rind, grapefruit and white peach.

2015 Robert-Denogent, Macon-Villages “Les Sardines”, Burgundy, France

A brilliant advocate of the producers he represents and the terroir they so lovingly cultivate, Lynch brings us the wines of Robert-Denogent from an underrated appellation in Southern Burgundy, the Maconnais. A family run estate located just outside the highly regarded village of Fuissé, Robert-Denogent is now run by Jean Jacques Robert who was greatly influenced by an ardent supporter of terroir, the great master of Morgon, Marcel Lapierre.

Cultivated from just one hectare of Chardonnay vines with forty years of age on limestone soil, this white burgundy undergoes a long, slow maturation in barrel that lasts anywhere from fifteen to eighteen months prior to bottling. The wine features a delicate creaminess on the nose mirrored by light citrus, apple and floral tones. The palate showcases a wonderfully rich and textured wine with endless complexity.

Finally, as Formation Boutique also enjoys its role as an art gallery and supporter of the arts, the story behind the “Les Sardines” label is one we love to share. The man behind the beautiful label is Denis Pesnot, a devoted artist of over thirty years. A cellar hand for some of the most renowned winemakers in the area, he has spent most of his life using this skill to make ends meet and fund his passion for painting.

Spanish and Italian Wine Tasting Menu
4pm - 6pm, Friday April 6, 2018
Shops at Solaris, Vail, Colorado

Featured Wines In Order of Service:

2016 Les Cousins Marc & Adria, Priorat " L'Antagonique", Blanc de Noirs, Catalonia, Spain

Crafted from a mix of red and white grapes (50% Garnacha, 30% Carinena & 20% Viognier), this interesting, still, white wine is a passion project of two cousins, Marc and Adria.  Boys of the same age, Marc and Adria grew up on farms and wineries in Priorat, north eastern Spain. During their careers, both men have worked and traveled abroad in very diverse areas, but perhaps more than any other country, France made its mark on them.

A tribute to their love of France, the winery, Les Cousins, and the wines showcase this influence through naming and blending. Blanc de Noirs meaning "White of Blacks" is more commonly seen on Champagne labels to indicate the use of white and red grapes in the blend.

wine with a lovely pinkish tint and a bouquet of citrus and herbal undertones, "L'Antagonique" Blanc de Noirs is a delicious and fascinating wine. Barrel aged for 4 months in used French Oak barrels, the wine has a lovely structure and mouthwatering acidity on the palate with notes of red and yellow fruits and a delicate spice tone.

2016 Benevelli Piero, Langhe Freisa "Alla Mia Gioia", Piedmont, Italy

Like most estates located in Piedmont, Italy, Benevelli Piero crafts beautiful wines from the famous grapes of Nebbiolo (Barolo and Barbaresco), Barbera and Dolcetto.

However, it is with great fortune due to a wonderful discovery by the estate's importer to the USA, Kermit Lynch, that we also have the opportunity to taste their wine made of Freisa.  Crafted for the family's drinking pleasure, Freisa is an indigenous grape varietal to Piedmont.

A slightly sparkling red wine, fermented and only briefly aged in stainless steel tanks, this wine is meant to be sipped with friends and easily enjoyed no matter the occasion.  Black cherry, violet, raspberry and a touch of baking spice combined with firm tannins and bright acidity make this wine a delicious sipper on its own or simply paired with strawberries and salumi.
